AccessTally is operated by AccessTally, Inc. ("AccessTally", "we", "us"), which is responsible for the service and for the personal information described below.
What our reports are (and aren't)
AccessTally reports contain automated engineering findings generated by testing pages against WCAG success criteria in a real browser. They are provided for informational purposes. They are not legal advice, and they are not a certification of conformance. Automated testing detects a substantial share of accessibility issues, but some WCAG criteria can only be evaluated by a human. A high score reduces risk; it does not eliminate it.
Privacy
What AccessTally collects, why, who helps us run the service, and how long we keep it.
What we collect
- When you run a free scan: the address you submit, the scan results (including screenshots of the scanned pages), and a salted hash of your IP address, used for rate limiting. Our application does not store your raw IP address.
- If you arrived from an ad or campaign link: the campaign details in that link, such as its source, campaign name and Google click ID.
- If you click a plan on the pricing page: which plan you clicked.
- If you unlock a report: your email address and the type of organization you select.
How we use it
To run your scan and send you the report, to prevent abuse, to measure and improve the service and our advertising, and occasionally to send you relevant product updates. Every update email includes a way to unsubscribe.
Who helps us run the service
- Twilio SendGrid delivers our emails.
- Cloudflare protects and delivers this website, and processes visitors' IP addresses to do so.
- Google Analytics and Google Ads measure site visits and the performance of our ads.
These providers process data on our behalf. We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share your email address with anyone else.
Cookies
AccessTally itself doesn't need cookies to work. Google Analytics and Google Ads use cookies to measure visits and ad performance. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
How long we keep it
Your free scan's results page and report link work for 14 days. We keep scan records (the address, the results, screenshots of the scanned pages and the hashed IP address) for up to 12 months to measure and improve the service, then delete them automatically. We keep your email address until you ask us to delete it. To request deletion or ask about your data, email [email protected].
Acceptable use
Only scan websites you own or are authorized to evaluate. Scans generate ordinary page requests similar to a normal visitor. We block scanning of private networks and enforce rate limits.
How scans work
Each page is loaded in a real browser and checked once it has finished loading, as a visitor would see it. If a cookie or terms pop-up covers the page, the scanner may accept it for its own browsing session so it can check the page behind it; this doesn't change anything for the site's other visitors. Reports include screenshots of the scanned pages.
